Choosing the Proper Solar Panel

By Eco-Friendly
Cheap Solar Panels

A long as your home has adequate roof space and the proper orientation to the sun, a solar power system could provide all of the electricity for your home. Many homeowners who have been interested in using solar power systems in the past have not been able to take advantage of this technology because they either had limited roof space or were somewhat out of alignment with the sun. The result would have been solar panels that didn’t generate enough energy to justify installation costs. Some hope has been given to these homeowners in recent years by the increased efficiency and tolerance of sunlight angles of modern solar panels.  Combining the solar panel with a 12 volt battery and charge controller is the most common application, making a 12v solar charger.

These newer solar panels are based on improved solar cell technology and better manufacturing techniques that provide a better solution for all solar power installations. Because of several different improvements, the solar cells in these newer solar panels offer homeowners better electricity generation than ones that were available just a few years ago. Their biggest advantage is that they can produce more energy from less sunlight than older cells. This means that they can be effective at generating electricity for longer portions of the day.Because of this, they can be used to produce energy for more hours per day. The number of hours per day the older panels could be used was more limited because they needed the sun to hit them more directly. During the early morning and and late afternoon these older panels would generate little to no electricity. They also wouldn’t produce power consistently on days with minor amounts of coulds, even if the sun could shine through them. The newer panels will produce more electricity for a solar power system in all levels of sunlight and this can help many homeowners to justify a solar power system for their homes. This can also be good news for people who have homes with less than perfect alignment with the sun.

Another benefit of these newer solar panels is that the average home will need fewer of them to produce enough energy to eliminate their electric bill. The cost for the system will also be less because fewer panels will be used. This is helpful for homeowners with limited roof space and may enable them to justify a solar power system for their homes.  You can see how much solar power and how many panels you’ll need for your home if you check out Solar Panel Calculator.

The newer solar panels also will also last significantly longer. Ten to fifteen years was the average life span of older panels. After about 10 years the panels would slowly degrade until they were unusable. This was because as the solar cells aged, they would fail one by one. As the cells began to fail, the panel would produce less and less electricity. The newer solar cells are more durable and will produce more power as well as lasting longer. This means that a homeowner will enjoy their benefits for many more years, and makes their investment in solar energy technology an even smarter choice.  One great option to save money on a solar installation is home home build solar panel.
