Things To Consider When Buying An MP3 Player

Before you head off to buy your new MP3 player, ask yourself this question, “What will I being using it for?” A simple question but an essential first step to get the most out of your new MP3 player. Really, a huge amount of time and frustration can be avoided by doing this. Otherwise, you can find yourself having purchased an MP3 player that does many things you don’t need and none of things that you do.

It will make selecting your new player much more enjoyable, otherwise you can just become overwhelmed by choice, not knowing which player is better than another or which one will be right for you. Will you want to use it for listening to music while your are working out or jogging? How important is a radio? Or do you want something you can watch movies on?

MP3 players have either easy to use button controls, for example, press play, up and down to run through your music lists and volume; or touch screen controls. Touch screens have become popular with the Apple iPod touch, and there are also many other MP3 players using them too. Many people find it an advantage to use a touch screen, as it is easier and also a fun way to use the player. If you have never used a one before, it can take a little practice at first.

You will need to find out if your music and movie files are compatible with your MP3 player. One of the main problems having bought a player, is to find that it doesn’t play your files. While we tend to think that all music files are MP3′s, this is not actually not the case. While MP3 is perhaps the most popular music file format, there are plenty more. We have Windows Media Audio, or WMA, Real Media or RM, and Apple use a format called AAC.

If you find a player that you do like, but it doesn’t play all your file formats, don’t worry, as there is a solution. There are many free software programs available that will easily and quickly convert your files into a compatible file for your player. You may also want to check if your player comes with a software program to do this, many do.

Ask a friend. If you have a friend or family member that seem to have a good MP3 player, which they find easy to use, ask them about it, let them show it off to you. Ask them what they really like about it, and if they think it would be suitable for you.
